PT Polychem Indonesia Tbk is engaged in the textile and textile product (TPT) industry. The performance of each business segment carried out by the Company throughout 2020 is described below:

1. CHEMISTRY

Operational Ethylene Glycol

1. Polychem Indonesia is not the only producer of Mono-Ethylene Glycol (MEG), Di-Ethylene Glycol (DEG), Tri-Ethylene Glycol (TEG) and various Ethoxylate (EOD) products in Indonesia.

Production

Our Ethylene Glycol (EG) Plants are using the technology from Scientific Design Co. Inc. United States of America and has a total annual production capacity of 233,600 Tons of Ethylene Glycol (EG). In 2020, the company only produced 137.522 Tons of Ethylene Glycol (EG) so the utilization was only 58.87%.

The total annual production capacity of Ethoxylate (EOD) is 80,000 tons, while in 2020 the company produced 58,687 tons.

Product

MEG is one of the main raw materials for yarn and polyester fibers, which used as a coolant and antifreeze agent. DEG used in the unsaturated polyester resin industry, brake fluid, and additive oil. Meanwhile, TEG used for the process of drying natural gas and washing chemicals. Other ethoxylate products are the main raw material for surfactant and detergent products.

Sales

In 2020, sales of Ethylene Glycol (EG) and Ethoxylate (EOD) products reached USD 110.61 million.

Chemical Market Overview

The Company has marketed its products to many countries in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Canada and Latin America.

2. POLYESTER

Operational Polyester

PT. Polychem Indonesia Tbk has a Zimmer AG technology polyester production facility from Germany to produce Polyester Chips, Polyester Yarn (POY), Polyester Fiber (PSF) and Rieter Scragg and Barmag technology to produce Drawn Textured Yarn (DTY).

Production

Our polyester production capacity is 129,600 tons/year consisting of 108,000 tons/year for 

polymers and 21,600 tons/year for DTY. The polymer capacity is divided into 21,000 tons/year of polyester chips, 43,200 tons/year of polyester yarn, and 43,200 tons/year of polyester fiber.

In 2020 the company produced polyester chips at 10,012 tons/year (utilization: 46,35%), polyester yarn at 10.914 tons/year (utilization of 25,26%), polyester fiber at 19.666 tons/year (utilization: 95%) and drawn textured yarn at 7,122 tons/year (utilization: 32,97%). The average utilization is at 36,82%

Product

Polyester yarn is a semi-finished yarn product, which is further processed in the weaving and knitting industry. Polyester Fiber is one of the main raw materials used to produce Polyester Spun Yarn, which is widely used in the manufacture of clothing and household equipment. It also used as the main raw material for making carpets, toy items, rolling mattresses, padding, sports shoes, and baby diapers.

Sales

The total sales of polyester products in 2020 reached USD 42.10 million.

Indonesia, the country with the fourth largest population in the world, has a low per capita consumption of polyester, even less than half of other more developed countries. This shows that domestic consumption will follow the trend and will continue to increase. As an efficient and competitive polyester producer, the Company is ready to take advantage of the increased demand and maintain its dominant position in Indonesia.
