Chemical Division
Ethylene Glycol – Ethylene Oxide
The company’s two ethylene glycol (EG) plants have an annual production capacity of 216,000 tons of mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG). The EG plants produce one main products, MEG, and two by-products, di-ethylene Glycol (DEG) and tri-ethylene Glycol (TEG).
The main customers of MEG are Polyester Synthetic Fiber manufacturers and the polyester terephtalate (PET) resin producers. MEG is also used as a cooling agent and anti freeze.
DEG is used in the unsaturated polymer resin industry, brake fluid industry, while TEG is used for gas dehydration and chemical cleaning purposes.
Ethoxylate
Adjacent to its ethylene glycol facilities, the company has constructed the first ethoxylate plant in Indonesia, with process licensing from Scientific Design USA. The annual production capacity of the plant is 80,000 tons.
The ethoxylate plant produces key raw materials, mainly Nonyl Phenol Ethoxylate, and Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylate mainly for the country’s growing surfactant and detergent industries.
Polyester Division
Polymerization
The main raw materials used to manufacture polyester are Purified Terepthalic Acid (PTA) and Monoethylene Glycol (MEG).
The Company’s total Polymer/Chips production capacity of the plant is 100,400 tons per annum in karawang.
Partially Oriented Yarn (POY)
Chips and polymer are processed into Polyester Filament and Polyester Staple Fiber. Polyester Filament Yarn is an intermediate product, which can be further processed through a draw-texturizing process to produce draw-textured yarn (DTY), or through a draw-twisting process to produce draw-twisted yarn.
Both of these are used for weaving and knitting polyester fabrics. The total Polyester Yarn capacity of plant is 43,200 tons per annum.
Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF)
The company’s PSF plant produces Polyester Staple Fiber, with an annual capacity of 43,200 tons, which is the main raw material used by the textile industry to produce Polyester Spun Yarn, widely used for apparel and household goods.
PSF can be spun into yarn on its own or blended with other fibers, such as cotton and rayon. PSF is also used for carpet pile, toy, sport shoes and diapers.
